MP-SPR is an invaluable tool for assay development in fields such as food and feed safety, environmental safety, clinical diagnostics, border control and process control.

While part of the research worldwide is dedicated to high-throughput instruments, more and more attention is gained by portable or point-of-care instruments. MP-SPR is an excellent tool for development of portable biosensors. Point-of-care biosensors include typically electrochemical sensors, surface enhance Raman sensors (SERS), ELISA, fluorescence or newly also printed diagnostics.

Our MP-SPR instruments offer a versatile platform for assay development. Benefit from easy in- and ex-situ modifications of SPR surfaces, microfluidic material testing, easy validation, and the freedom to develop any assay type using your sample and sensing material of choice.

Choose MP-SPR for biosensor development to:

  • Monitor your sensor at every step of production – from sensor layer formation to binding analysis
  • Analyze binding of molecules to different surfaces
  • Find the optimum surface for your biosensor applications
  • Determine how your assay works with crude sample such as serum, saliva, sea water or urine
  • Compare biosensor performances
  • Identify the best coating to prevent sample adsorption to  microfluidic channels

  • AN#165 Cellulose fiber-based yarn development for capturing estrogen residues from aqueous matrices with MP-SPR
  • AN#160 Biosensor for bacteria detection from powdered milk
  • AN#151 MP-SPR measurements of soft and hard corona on nanoparticle in 100% serum
  • AN#150 Organophosphonates characterization using MP-SPR

Our MP-SPR instruments can be used in conjunction with a variety of electrochemical techniques for gathering both optical and electrochemical real-time data simultaneously from the same sensor surface. Multiple electrochemical methods, such as potentiometric, amperometric or impedance spectroscopy can be applied.

A potentiostat can be used both to induce reactions on surface (e.g. electrochemical switching) or to gather information with a technology sensitive to other type of information than optical changes.

Choose MP-SPR for electrochemical biosensors to:

  • Develop simple electrochemical sensors in one device
  • Assess lipid membrane quality
  • Quantify catalytic bioreactions
  • Measure electro-switchable reactions and functional biomaterials
  • Perform real-time measurements of conformational changes

With MP-SPR:

  • Develop a sensitive assay
  • Select the best molecules
  • Determine the best electrode material
  • Improve electrode manufacturing
  • Pick the best coating for electrodes
  • Finetune microfluidic channel coatings

Unlike traditional SPR, MP-SPR can work also with gas and vapor samples. It can be used to finetune sensitive coatings for specific gas components. Amongst others, MP-SPR is able to detect hydrogen (2 Dalton) on Palladium surface. Also surface interaction with different humidity can be studied at the nanoscale.

Reasons to choose MP-SPR for gas sensors to:

  • Easily perform ex-situ modifications of SPR surfaces with materials and coatings of your choice
  • Work with both liquid and gas samples
  • Obtain sensitive measurements to small molecules and nanoparticles
  • Perform validation with electrochemistry

With MP-SPR you can:

  • Analyze binding of molecules to different surfaces
  • Find the optimum surface for different gases
  • Determine how your assay works with crude sample such as serum, saliva, sea water or urine

MP-SPR allows for concentration analysis of unknown samples as the level of MP-SPR response depends on the concentration of the analyte. Known standard sample response is used as a reference.

Reasons to choose MP-SPR for concentration determination to:

  • Perform label-free concentration measurements
  • Benefit from rate-based measurements
  • Measure the concentration of low molecular size molecules
  • Determine accurate concentrations even in liquids of varying concentrations thanks to our unique PureKinetics™ feature
